VPS Customers: Emergency Scheduled Maintenance, Saturday 09/25/2004 2:00AM Eastern

This email notification has been sent to all VPS customers (new cluster)


Dear Customers,

We are scheduling an emergency maintenance on Saturday 09/25/2004 at 2:00 AM Eastern Time (GMT -04:00, 4:15 hours from now). All VPS hardware nodes will be upgraded to the latest kernel. The kernel upgrade is necessary to close the vulnarabilities discovered recently. Unfortunately, due to the necessity and urgency of this maintenance, we will not be able to schedule it 24 hours ahead of time under our normal scheduled maintenance window.

All VPS customers will be affected. Prior to the maintenance work, your VPS will be shut down. After the hardware node is upgraded, your VPS will be restarted again, one by one. We expect the total downtime for all VPS to be no more than 30 to 45 minutes.

Hi Dave -- I thought the VPS nodes had already been upgraded to Virtuozzo 2.6, as per this thread (http://forums.fluidhosting.com/showthread.php?t=1158)?

Thank you for correcting. I was pasting the wrong text. Yes, all VPS nodes have been ugpraded to Virtuozzo 2.6. We are now ugprading to the latest kernel.

I edited the post. The email notification you receive is correct though.

VPS1, VPS2, and VPS4 are all up and running again. For some reasons VPS3 is undergoing fsck now.

fsck on VPS3 is done. Currently each VPS is being started one by one. ALL VPSes should be up and running shortly.
