The following work has been scheduled. Email notification has been sent to all shared hosting customers.
Dear Valued Customers,
We would like to schedule a maintenance work on the control panel server. The maintenance window is scheduled to start on this coming Thursday, 03/17/2005 at around 3:00 AM Eastern Time (GMT -05:00) and may last for up to 2 hours.
During this maintenance window, the control panel server will be migrated to a off-network server. The new control panel server will have 2 GB memory, a 1 GB upgrade from the old control panel server. The PotsrgeSQL database will also be upgraded to 7.4.7. Furthermore, the new control panel server will have Dual P3/1GHz, an upgrade from a single P3/1.4 GHz. All of these should hopefully boost the control panel server performance.
We have also decided to host the control panel server on our Equinix data center in Secaucus, New Jersey. This may introduce a small additional network latency. However, we believe the additional 7-8 ms round trip latencies between Equinix and Internap data center in Boston will be negligible.
During this maintenance window, control panel service will be unavailable or intermittent at best. We expect no other complications and the control panel service should be up and running again shortly after the maintenance work is completed. Only the control panel service will be affected. All other services (web servers, database servers, email servers, DNS servers, etc) will not be affected.
