We have just received the following from Internap's NOC regarding this worm.

Hello,

As has been widely reported in the media, there is a "worm" virus that is spreading rapidly across the Internet which is targetted towards boxes running the Microsoft Windows operating system. In an effort to keep our customers informed of any widespread security vulnerabilities that may impact either the Internap or our customers' networks, the Internap NOC wanted to update all of our customers on our plan of action, as well as provide updated information on the virus.

Regarding the updated information on the virus, below is a link to the current CERT advisory which details the virus and information on blocking the virus :

http://www.cert.org/advisories/CA-2003-20.html

At this point Internap has examined the traffic traversing our network to determine whether it is necessary to filter traffic through our network that relates to the virus. Currently we are seeing little to no impact from the virus, so at this point Internap will not be filtering the "worm" traffic. The NOC will be keeping a close eye on the traffic levels, and should overall traffic flow increase to a point that is detrimental to the PNAP's or our customers, we will take action at that point. The NOC will keep you all updated as to any actions that will be taken and when.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this issue, please direct them to [email contact removed] or [phone contact removed]

Thank you.

We have patched our windows servers so we should be fine. I will keep you updated if Internap decides to take any necessary action to block any traffic due to this worm/virus attack.
