Shared Hosting Disk Space and Traffic Upgrades

Effective immediately, we are upgrading the disk space and traffic for all Unix/Windows shared hosting plans listed below. Enjoy! :)

Compact Plans
Disk Space: from 300 MB to 500 MB
Traffic: from 10 GB to 15 GB

Medium Plans
Disk Space: from 1000 MB to 1250 MB
Traffic: from 20 GB to 25 GB

Large Plans
Disk Space: from 2000 MB to 2500 MB
Traffic: from 40 GB to 50 GB

Super Plans
Disk Space: from 3000 MB to 3500 MB
Traffic: from 60 GB to 75 GB

Extra Plans
Disk Space: from 5000 MB to 6000 MB
Traffic: from 80 GB to 100 GB

If your account is created before November 28th, 2006, then you will need to make this adjustment through your control panel.

To increase disk space to the new quota:
1. Click the Edit icon next to "Disk USage". On the next page, enter the new disk space quota value. Make sure you do not exceed the new quota or else you will be charged for additional space.
2. Once this is done, increease your FTP quota as well. On your main Control Panel page, click the "FTP Manager" icon. On the next page, click the edit icon at the end of the "Quota" line. Then enter the new FTP quota to the maximum of your disk space quota.

To increase total traffic to the new quota:
1. Click the Edit icon next to your traffic usage meter. On the next page, enter the new traffic usage quota. Make sure you do not exceed the new quota or else you will be charged for additional space.

Is there a technical reason for hosts to limit the number of domains?

Not a bid deal for me since I don't use what I have now, I'm just wondering :) No complaint, just a question...

Actually, there is, at least for the moment. PSOFT built Apache, at least under our current FreeBSD OS, with limited number of open files (1024). One open file is needed for each virtual host. Thus, as the number of virtual host (domains or sub domains) have increased, Apache may be acting up. PSOFT had released new Apache built. However, unfortunately, that version caused so much problem with the FreeBSD kernel we have that forced us to downgrade Apache again. Back in September/October, some of our Unix clients experienced a lot of server instability, and this is one of the reason.

IIS under Windows Server seems to be much more stable in this regards. As well, Apache under CentOS. We are planning to move web servers from FreeBSD to CentOS or migrate all current FreeBSD web servers to new servers based on FreeBSD 6.x. After which, we should be able to handle more virtual host per web server. And as you guess it, we will revise our current plans with increased number of domains (or even offer plans with unlimited domains? :shhh:). Hopefully this can be done within the next 30 days.

Should I need to do anything to activate this? I have the medium plan and my control panel is still showing a 1GB limit on disk space.

Yes, you will need to edit your new quotas from the control panel. I have added an instruction on how to do this on my original post. Please check. Thank you.

I have a very old Unix Value account with 200mb. Do I get any sort of memory upgrade?

This disk space/traffic upgrade is only offered on new plans. However, you can upgrade to our new plans any time. Submit a ticket from the control panel to confirm/request the upgrade.

Yes, you would need to create a ticket and we will do the upgrade for you. Please note that the new plans may have different pricing than your current plan.
