In accordance to the email sent out by Internap below, Fluid Hosting will be performing a scheduled maintenance window on Friday, 09/26/2003 10 PM to Saturday, 09/27/2003 4 AM (all time are EDT, GMT -04:00). This maintenance windows will be used for a resolution on a power outage experience last Sunday, 09/22/2003. Details on the power outage can be viewed here (http://forum.fluidhosting.com/showthread.php?threadid=307).

A separate email notifications will also be sent to all customers later. Should you have further questions/concerns, please email us at support[at]fluidhosting.com.

Hello,

As a follow up to the email sent yesterday which outlined the Reason for Outage regarding the power outage experienced by BSN customers on Sunday, 9/21/03, this email is directed specifically to the customers who are homed (at least partially, if not completely) to the UPS-A feed.

As outlined in the email yesterday, in order to replace the failed breaker on the UPS-A equipment, customers that are homed to the UPS-A feed will need to be moved to the UPS-B feed so that when the breaker is replaced, those customers do not experience a lengthy power outage. The plan of action is for the BSN Facility staff to work with each of the customers who have received this email to move their power feeds to the UPS-B feed, which will entail a brief outage during the changeover.

Internap is scheduling the replacement of the breaker on the UPS-A equipment for Friday, September 26th from 10pm-4am. During this window any customers still homed to the UPS-A feed will be without power while the breaker is being replaced. As such, it is vital for any customer who receives this email to follow the contact instructions below and work with the BSN facility staff to move their power feeds before Friday, 9/26 at 10pm. A seperate event notification of that power work will be forthcoming shortly.

If you have received this email and need to move your eqiupment to the UPS-B feed in preparation of the breaker replacement, please contact the manager of the BSN facility directly to coordinate the necessary work :

As previously mentioned a seperate notitification of the maitenance window in which the UPS-A breaker will be replaced will be sent out to all BSN customers shortly as well.

I have just called the BSN Facility Manager. Currently all of our equipments are connected to UPS-A feed. So there are two options:
1. Stay with UPS-A feed during the whole maintenance. This will entail a downtime of 4.5 hours approximately.
2. Move to UPS-B feed prior to the maintenance on UPS-A feed. This will cause a shorter downtime when we move the equipments from UPS-A to UPS-B. We may, however, have to move them again from UPS-B back to UPS-A at some time later (i.e. another short downtime).

During the next few hours, we will weigh these two options and will update all customers on the course of action to be taken.

The following email notification has been sent to all customers.

Subject: [Fluid Hosting Notification] Scheduled maintenance downtime, Friday 09/26/2003

Dear Valued Customers,

Our data center, Internap (BSN), will be performing a scheduled maintenance window on its UPS-A equipment on Friday, 09/26/2003 at 10:00 PM local time (GMT -04:00). The maintenance is expected to last for up to 4.5 hours. During the maintenance, Internap will replace the failed breaker which had caused power outage experience on Sunday, 09/21/2003. Most of Fluid Hosting's equipments have its feed to UPS-A and thus Fluid Hosting was impacted by the failed breaker in UPS-A last Sunday. Details report on this power outage can be read on our forum at http://fluidhosting.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=307. Note: you will have to register on our forum in order to read the customers only forums.

To minimize any downtime possible, Fluid Hosting will shut down all servers/equipments and move them all to UPS-B feed. Once the move to UPS-B feed is done, all servers/equipments will be turned on again and all services should resume as normal. The downtime is expected to last for no more than 30-45 minutes at the most for all of our shared, resellers, colo and dedicated customers. VPS customers may experience a longer downtime of up to 1 - 1.5 hours. We will plan to move all servers/equipments to UPS-B feed on Friday, 09/26/2003 at 8:00 PM local time (GMT -04:00).

During the move, our main server (which hosted our web site and forum) will be taken down the last and will be turned on the first. This way, loss of communication with our customers will be minimized. We expect to further complications because during this maintenance window. We will also keep everybody updated on this scheduled maintenance through our forum at http://fluidhosting.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=321.

Should you have further questions/concerns, please email us at support[at]fluidhosting.com.

All servers, except VPS1 (66.150.197.6), are up and running. VPS1 is still doing fsck, unfortunately.

Everything should be up and running again. There is nothing unexpected during this maintenance work. Most servers only experience downtime of 5-10 minutes.

If you have any problems/difficulties with your account, please contact support[at]fluidhosting.com.

This maintenance windows is now completed.
