IMAP, in addition to POP3, is now supported on our new mail server. For those who have been waiting for it, please give it a try and let us know if you experience any difficulties/problems with IMAP.

Great! I've been waiting on this!

Are you planning on offering any other webmail clients now that you're supporting IMAP? Squirrelmail, etc?

We will leave the webmails the way it is now since majority of our customers are used to the current webmails setup. But we do have squirrelmail installed on our mail server. You can access it through http://mail.fluidhosting.com/squirrelmail/ (or https://mail.fluidhosting.com/squirrelmail/).

Always nice to hear about new features :)

But the two urls you posted both give me 404 errors...

Oops ... URLs corrected. Thanks :)

I know that SqWebmail does not support IMAP. However, I thought that IMP/Horde did. If so, will you be configuring it to do so now that you have IMAP support on your mail server?

Two more things :

1) Are you using port 143 for your IMAP access?

2) Should I be able to access mail.mydomain.tld via IMAP from my shared hosting server - alpha.fluidhosting.com?

To answer your questions..

1) Yes we are running on port 143.

2) I believe that is firewalled off. I'd have to check.

IMAP over SSL (port 993) should be supported now.

:hail: Now how did you know I was getting ready to ask about this.....

This is great guys! Thanks!

Hi guys,

Do you have any alternate ports for people behind firewalls?

06-03-2011, 01:10 PM
We have several alternatives from the typical ports.

IMAP over SSL on port 993.
POP3 over SSL on port 995.
SMTP over SSL on port 465.
SMTP on port 587.

Thanks, but IMAP still isn't working. I wonder why. Regular POP and SMTP work fine behind this firewall, just not IMAP.

OK, the issue was with the max number of server connections to cache. I reduced the number from 5 to 1 and now it's working.

Maybe someone can shed some light on IMAP at FH, especially for VPS accounts . . . I was doing some testing with sending emails using Outlook, Blackberry, IMP and Open Webmail. While the contents of the inbox across all 4 platforms is in sync, for the life of me I can't find sent emails through either IMP or Open Webmail. I understand that Open Webmail probably does not support IMAP but I assumed IMP would give me visibility into all IMAP traffic. When I send an email from my Blackberry I can see it in the sent folder in my Outlook and vice versa. This tells me that IMAP is, I guess, flowing properly. But where are those sent emails stored in IMP or at FH?? Is there another webmail client I should be using at FH to gain access to these sent mails??
