After signing up by credit card, if I don't receive a confirmation by E-mail that I can now manage the account, how long should I reasonably wait before suspecting that there may be a problem?

Is credit card billing sufficiently hit-and-miss that I should use another payment method or sign up for longer intervals than monthly recurring?
