dedicated IP Address

I have been looking at fluidinghosting for my hosting needs, but I need some help from you guys...
One of the differences between two plans is that the more expensive one has "Dedicated IP Address" for the account.

I know what an IP address is, but what are the advantages to this over a non-Dedicated IP Address

Unless if you need to secure your sites/pages through SSL and/or if you plan to have anonymous FTP, then dedicated IP will not needed. If you can use shared IP, then the dedicated IP will be of no real advantage for you.
