We will be performing kernel upgrades on all of our FreeBSD Servers. The scheduled maintenance is expected to be done on Sunday, 02/08/2004 starting at around 7:00 PM (main clusters) and 8:00 PM (reseller clusters) Eastern Standard Time (GMT -05:00). The resulting downtime from a server reboot is expected to be only around 5-10 minutes on each server. In addition to the kernel upgrade, we will perform minor upgrade to the Control Panel.

Because the mail server and control panel servers will also be upgraded, all customers/resellers will be affected by this upgrade. Please plan accordingly. If you have any questions/concerns about this scheduled maintenance, please email us at support[at]fluidhosting.com.

Note: This notification has been sent to all customers early this afternoon. If you do not receive one, please make sure that your account contact information is up to date.

I noticed that the mysql server was not reachable today from 10:42am to 11:18am EST, and it was rebooted after that. I was just wondering if this was according to the upgrade scheduled for today (however a couple of hours too early).

I received about 1200 vBulletin error messages within that time:

Database error in vBulletin :

Link-ID == false, connect failed
mysql error:

mysql error number: 0

Alex,

No, it has nothing to do with the scheduled maintenance. The database server had refused connection from graviton (and only graviton) due to many connection errors. The problem had been fixed as you have noticed.

The server will be rebooted as scheduled tonight.

Dave thank for the explanation.

I was just confused to see these many error messages, and there was this coincidance with the announced maintainance and the fact that this error has never happened before.

Cool that everything is running smoothly now :cool:
