Dear Valued Customers,

As mentioned in our previous email, we are sending this email to notify you of our coming scheduled maintenance. Note:
1. The IP of the web servers above will be the IP of your website if you use shared IP. If any of your website under your account is using shared IP, you will know the web server your account reside in by looking at that shared IP. If you only have a website with a dedicated IP and you are not sure which server your account resides on, feel free to open a ticket from your control panel to contact us. You may also obtain this information by looking at your DNS A records.
2. Looking at your DNS MX records, you will know which mail server your mail service is being served on.
3. To see which database server your databases is being served on, simply click the " MySQL Server," "PgSQL server," or "MSSQL Server" icon on your control panel. The database server hostname is the database server information you need.

When in doubt, feel free to open a ticket from your control panel.

The migration will be started at around 11:00 PM Eastern Time (GMT -04:00) on the day the maintenance is schedule. To minimize downtime, we will copy all of your data from the old server to the new server prior to the scheduled maintenance date. On the day the server is migrated, we will perform one last data sync copy. Unfortunately, this last sync requires all services to be stopped. Thus, we do expect some services to be affected by this migration. We understand how important uptime is for you and we will make sure that any downtime is minimized.

The expected downtime is as follows:
- name servers: no impact on services since we run redundant DNS servers and will not perform more than one name server migration per any given day.
- mysql/pgsql servers: approximately 90 minutes of downtime
- mssql server: approximately 90-120 minutes of downtime
- Unix/Linux web servers: approximately 60 minutes of downtime
- Windows web servers: approximately 90-120 minutes of downtime
- mail servers: approximately 30 minutes of downtime

Very Important notes:
1. For customers on web1 - web5.fluidhosting.com web servers (204.14.90.21 - 204.14.90.25), please note that you will be migrated from a FreeBSD web servers to a Linux/CentOS web server. Unfortunately, Citrix XenServer does not yet support FreeBSD OS and thus we cannot convert a FreeBSD web server to our AHA cluster. In addition, we believe that Linux/CentOS is better supported by Parallels (the developer of HSphere) than FreeBSD. To the majority of customers, the difference between FreeBSD and Linux/CentOS web server should not make any difference in any way whatsoever. However, we understand that some may have preference and/or restriction to be on FreeBSD server. If you think you will be affected by this change of OS, please contact us by Wednesday 08/05/2009. We are preparing a new FreeBSD server to host customers that require FreeBSD hosting. Your account will be migrated to this FreeBSD server. On Sunday, 08/09/2009, we will start converting all FreeBSD web servers into Linux/CentOS web servers. Should you choose to remain on a FreeBSD web server, it is highly important that your account be migrated to the new FreeBSD server by Friday, 08/07/2009. Please note, however, our AHA Hosting will not work on FreeBSD server.
2. Customers who has MSSQL database hosted on mssql1.fluidhosting.com, please note that we will be switching the database engine on mssql1 from
MSSQL 2000 Standard Edition to MSSQL 2005 Enterprise Edition. While we believe that MSSQL 2005 is backward compatible with MSSQL 2000, you will need to notify us if, for any reason, you want to stay on MSSQL 2000. You can contact us by opening a ticket from your control panel.

Other than the estimated downtime above, we do not expect any unexpected complications arising from the migration above.

Should you have any questions/concerns regarding this schedule maintenance work, feel free to open a ticket from your account control panel. We have announced this migration on our community forums at http://forums.fluidhosting.com/showt...9460#post19460. We will use this forum to keep track of this migration process.

Thank you and we are looking forward to improving our services to you.

Sincerely,
System Administrators

I have read and reread this notification. I tried to determine if I needed to do anything but it is not clear to me. Aside from recognizing that there will be some downtime is there something I need to do for this migration?

I have 2 sites on static IPs. Will those IPs stay the same?

I also use mySQL databases. Will my sites continue to work after the migration without any changes to the settings?

Is there anything I need to do?

Wish I had an option to stay put... I'm 100% sure this migration is going to break something on my sites... everything has been 100% fine for years so I'm 100% sure this migration is not something I need.

Not to mention a product launch in Aug... Aug is going to be interesting.

Thanks for providing such detailed information about the changes. I wish they'd been sent a little sooner, though, as I see the nameserver migration begins already tomorrow. I need some time to read and study your emails to see if there'll be any impact on my site that I need to warn my users about. And these things rarely go according to schedule. Keep us posted. I'll bookmark this post and check it daily. Thanks again......

You shouldn't need to do anything to your sites. All IPs will be staying the same, so there will be no DNS or IP issues.

Actually, the only item I'm worried about is my newsletter script... the developer had to "specialize" it for my site many years ago.... it just "works" so I'm worried it won't work later.

Guess I'll wait and see how it goes.

Can't wait to see the new plans... although, my current plan is more than sufficient.

All of the server paths will remain the same, so it should just work.

Will those who have SSH access continue to have it?

My current plan renews sometime in August. It would be very nice to know what the new plans will be before then. Any idea of when they might be available to view?

Starting migration of db1. We'll be stopping MySQL, and PostgreSQL to copy the data.

mail1 is fully up and running. You may notice mail missing that was received earlier today, it'll appear in your mailbox sometime during the night, as we are performing a final data sync from the old server.
