If MySQL can run completely from RAM, it'll be much faster. However, it wouldn't really be noticable except under heavy load.

We don't offer extra RAM or CPU allocations. I'm not even certain if HSP Complete has a way to offer those as add-ons. However, you can purchase additional IPs, disk space, and bandwdith. Pricing information is at the bottom of: http://fluidhosting.com/vps/pricing.php

As for getting tired, not sure if that could happen. I've yet to get tired of answering questions, and there are customers who have asked many more than you. Feel free to ask away, we're always happy to help.

Its just that at some point, I was with a hosting company where the impatience of the staff would come through quite obviously after a few questions.

Right now I am running mysql 4.1.2 (or whatever their latest 4.1.x is) using the ADO.NET provider from Reggie Burnett (ByteFX). I started to create a CMS using asp.net but as it kind of grew, I decided to make it a forum. So, I wrote a small application to create test information such as usernames, passwords, join dates, post titles, replies, etc... I had it create about 200000 posts in about 14000 threads on my comp. I am getting page generation times of around .01 - .04 seconds on most pages (depending if connection is open in connection pool). I almost never get the mysql process to go above 20 megs of memory usage so I feel somewhat confident.

I definitely am not expecting such a large amount of users, but am doing testing since I want it to be fast with a small footprint.

Once I get the basic thirng working, I will do some major documenting and code cleanup. That is the part I am least looking forward to. But I am getting ahead of myself

Everything will be clear soon enough.

Sounds like it's pretty efficient, or you have a really powerful computer.

Good luck cleaning up code.
