Hurricane Irene

Below is the communication update from Equinix. As you may know, we are located inside Equinix IBX NY2 in Secaucus, NJ.

Quote:
Dear Equinix Customer,

IBX(s): NY METRO
Date and Time of Occurrence: 28-AUG-2011, 02:00 Site Local Time

ADVISORY SUMMARY: Hurricane Irene

ADVISORY DESCRIPTION:

HURRICANE IRENE UPDATE

As you would expect, our Site Operations personnel have taken additional precautionary measures to guard against interruption of customer services due to Hurricane Irene. Current IBX status has been provided below. As communicated earlier, Equinix will send specific Incident Notifications if, and when, additional incidents arise in accordance with our standard and customary processes.

IBX Status

At this time, all IBXs are under normal operation and no incidents have been detected or reported. Site Operations personnel reports that a possible pre-emptive power shutdown by the local utility company may occur affecting NY8, NY9, and NY10. In the case that this utility power shutdown occurs, our facilities will transfer to generator power, and fuel vendors will be dispatched to maintain our fuel tank levels. Vendors have already been notified regarding the possible need for fuel. Our tanks are currently topped off, and we are prepared for this utility power outage should it occur. Unless we are given notice of an exact time the shutdown will occur, we will not pre-emptively transfer to generator as we need to conserve fuel until it is needed.

Sincerely,
Equinix Operations Center

Noon Sunday-

All my sites hosted by Fluid performing normally.

Interestingly, it's another site (not mine; a forum I moderate) that's hosted in Dallas, that I'm getting VERY slow response from. In fact, came over here to post this after checking my own sites WHILE waiting in another window for a new post to submit there).

Nice work, Fluid.

Glad to hear that your site is working well here.

Below is the final update from Equinix. The worst is now over, at least for us. We are very blessed that everything turned out OK.
