(Shared) Scheduled Maitenance: HSphere upgrade, Wednesday, 09/27 at 3:30 AM ET

The following notification has been sent to all shared hosting customers.

Quote:
Subject: [Fluid Hosting Notification] Scheduled Maitenance: HSphere upgrade, Wednesday 09/27 starting at 3:30 AM ET (GMT -04:00)

PS: Please do not reply to this email directly as your reply will not be attended to. Instead, please direct your questions/concerns to support[at]fluidhosting.com.

Dear Valued Customers,

This email is to notify you of the upcoming scheduled maintenance window to be performed on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 starting at 3:30 AM Eastern Time (GMT -04:00). During this maintenance window, HSphere will be upgraded to the latest version, 2.5 Patch 5. This is a major upgrade and several services will be upgraded together.

Many new features and improvements have been introduced with HSphere 2.5. Windows customers will soon see the following improvements:
- Multiple FTP accounts
- ASP.Net/.Net 2.0 Framework native support
- MSSQL 2005 support (to be offered 10/02/2006)

Both Unix and Windows customers will enjoy the following benefits with the new HSphere 2.5:
- MySQL 4.1.21 with UTF-8 support
- SiteStudio 1.7.1rc1
- Added support of MnoGoSearch URLs
- Ability to browse mailing list archives from user control panel

In addition, the following applications will also be upgraded:
- AWStats to version 6.5_1
- phpBB to version 2.0.20_1
- OSCommerce to version 2.2ms2.3
- FrontPage Extension for Unix 1 to version
- MnoGoSearch to version 3.2.35_2
- Modlogan to version 0.8.13_1
- Webalizer to version 2.1.10_1
- WebShell to version 4.3.5_1
(Please note: all exsiting phpBB and OsCommerce installations will need to be upgraded manually)

Furthermore, with HSphere 2.5, we will soon be offering reseller accounts integrated onto our main cluster. As well, MS Exchange hosting will be offered in the near future.

Please note that because this is a major upgrade, this maintenance window may take up to 5 hours to complete. During this period, Control Panel service will be unavailable. The following services will be briefly unvailable when they are upgraded: MySQL, FTP, DNS, Webmail, and SiteStudio. IIS, Apache, MSSQL, and PgSQL services should not be affected from this upgrade.

During this upgrade, our staff will be working around the clock to make sure that all services will be resumed as soon as possible. Due to the nature of the upgrade, we will be offering extended phone support starting at 6 AM Eastern Time (GMT -04:00). Because our main Control Panel will be unavailable, all support tickets will also be routed through our backup ticket system, Kayako. In addition, we will keep you updated on our community forums at http://forums.fluidhosting.com/showthread.php?p=16686.

Please plan for this upgrade accordingly. Should you have any further questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at support[at]fluidhosting.com.

Sincerely,
System Administrators
Fluid Hosting, LLC

The upgrade is still going on so some services may still have intermitten issue or not working properly.

Even though we projected for 5 hours maintenance window, it appears that the upgrade will take longer than that. At this time, we are still waiting for the developer, PSoft, to provide us with more information in regard of the update status.

Please accept our apology for the inconvenience.

Just a few quick updates
  1. Both of our MySQL servers are having problem. At this moment, PSOFT is still working on this problem. Unfortunately, we cannot give any ETA. This problem was not expected. We are trying to resolve this problem as soon as possible.
  2. Unix Web4 web server seems to be showing some kernel errors. We are working on this.
  3. HSphere has been upgraded on all Windows servers.
  4. Control Panel is still shut off until all upgrades have been completed.

It seems PSOFT is still working on mysql1. It has been started and shut down several times. We will keep you updated on this.

Update: mysql1 has been up and running for quite some time and it seems to have been fixed as PSOFT is no longer working on this server. We will keep monitoring mysql1.

PhpMyAdmin should be working now. It should have a drop-down menu to choose between mysql1.fluidhosting.com and mysql2.fluidhosting.com.

Other than few isolated problems, everything else seems to be working already. Please send us email at support [at] fluidhosting.com to report any other problems you see/experience.

At this moment, Control Panel is still down.

Control Panel service is still down at this moment. At the worst, CP may not be available until another 6-7 hours. We are still trying to bring it up as soon as possible. Until then, should you need anything done through Control Panel, please email us at supprot [at] fluidhosting.com; we should be able to assist you.

Please accept our sincerest apology about the unexpected problem with Control Panel.

Control Panel service should be back up and running again. This should conclude the overdue HSphere upgrade. Once again, please check your website and make sure everything works as expected. Should there be any problem, please contact us at support [at] fluidhosting.com immediately.
